9-12 months - Dropping night feeds
When your child is between 9-12 months old and there is no health or growth concerns, you can be ready to drop their night-time feed.
Once your child has the ability to settle themselves, it is important to regulate their nutritional intake. It's necessary to make sure that children get the right amount of carbohydrates, protein and fats throughout the day to avoid low blood sugar, which causes them to wake hungry. Children also rely on their daily intake of iron, as their bodies store less iron during this period. Unlike adults, we identify low iron to tiredness. Whereas, low iron in children causes them to wake frequently. So making sure they're getting enough plays a big part in whether your child sleeps well.
